Arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport and take the air-conditioned bus from the terminal for 143 THB. The journey takes 2 hours. A private taxi costs 1,200-1,500 THB and cuts the trip by half an hour.

Skip Pattaya Beach

Do not assume Pattaya Beach is for swimming. The water quality is rated “fair” by the Pollution Control Department (2023), the sand is narrow and coarse, and you will waste a whole day on a subpar stretch. From North Pattaya Bus Terminal, buses to Bangkok's Ekamai, Mo Chit and Suvarnabhumi stations run regularly at 130 to 180 THB. A private taxi from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi runs 1,000 to 1,500 THB.

Onward Routes That Matter

Three onward routes matter. Koh Samet: take a bus or taxi to Ban Phe Pier (60 to 90 minutes, 150 to 200 THB bus, 800 to 1,200 THB taxi), then a 30-minute ferry. Trat and Koh Chang: a bus from North Pattaya takes 4 to 5 hours, then a ferry to Koh Chang for 30 to 60 minutes; total travel time 5 to 7 hours.
